Communication – The Key in How To Get Ex Back

»Posted by in Family and Self

Have you just gone through a breakup? If so then you must be in a state of turmoil. Even if you and your ex broke it off in an amicable manner, you will surely have lots of negative emotions and feelings bottled up inside. Now that it has happened, the only thing on your mind could be how to get ex back. Well, if you don’t already know, one of the most important things that you need to have at this time in need is good communication.

If you harbor the desire of getting back together with your ex, then you need to brush up on your communication skills. Communication means knowing how to best talk to someone in order for you to be understood. So don’t you think it’s important to be able to communicate well with your ex? You will not only be improving your chances of getting back together, you will also be a better partner in your next relationship.

Did you know that the secret to talking is actually no talking? The secret lies in listening. In order for you to be great at talking to people, you need to be a great listener. Listening is not the same as hearing. When you listen, you understand what is being said. When you hear, you’re just noticing sounds. So you see, listening is a skill that needs effort and concentration on your part. When you are a better listener, you will able to better understand and respond to your ex. Although you may think this is quite obvious, you’d be surprised to know the staggering number of couples who don’t have meaningful dialogue with one another. Rather they talk at each other. So who is doing the listening?

Flirting is another form of communication. When you flirt you are sending the message to the other person that you’re interested in them. Maybe you want to get to know them a little bit more. In the case of you and your ex, flirting means that you are interested in getting back together again. Of course this is quite an advanced move which should only be done when you two are comfortable with meeting one another for friendly chats over coffee. You also need to pick up clues from your ex. If they flirt back, then they may be ready to work things out. If they don’t respond, then you need to back down.

As you can see, communication is really important when you want to get your ex back. Through better communication the daunting task of getting back together again will be much more achievable.

Permanent Residence

»Posted by in Family and Self

P

Permanent residence is an immigration status whereby an immigrant is granted rights to live and work in another country on a permanent basis. In most countries, a permanent resident is given an identification document attesting to his permanent resident status. In the United states this document is called a Green card, a card green in color which a permanent resident is required by law to be carrying at all times. Failure to carry the document is a crime punishable under the US federal law.

Permanent residence does not equate you to a citizen. Legally speaking, a permanent resident is still an alien. In most countries, they don’t have a right to vote or to be elected to any federal and state positions. The funny bit is that aliens under the permanent residence status have to pay their taxes just like everybody else.

Ways of acquiring permanent residence

Different countries have different ways through which an alien can acquire permanence residence. In the US, one may acquire permanent residence by:

  • Through a family member

A spouse married to a green card holder is allowed to join the spouse in the US. This is usually preceded by a rigorous procedure that leaves the family separated for quite some time. The process is so time consuming that most permanent residents inviting their spouses prefer to wait till they attain citizen status to invite them as it’s a less rigorous process.

  • Through employment

Here one attains permanent residence after a potential employer first confirms that he is going to offer you a specific job. You then have to take up that job in order that you are allowed to remain a permanent resident.

  • Green card lottery

This is a lottery through which citizens from countries that have low immigrants rates are allowed permanent residence in the US. You have to be a citizen by birth to qualify.

Other ways of acquiring permanent residence in the US are, by investing in the country, by political asylum or through immigration approved by the director of the Central Intelligence Agency. Most countries have strict rules to be followed by permanent residents and failure to adhere to these may lead to cancellation of the status or even deportation.

How is a Class Action Different than an MDL Proceeding?

»Posted by in Family and Self

Many people have heard of a class action lawsuit and have some idea of what it is: lots of people suing over what is often a smaller amount.  More specifically, a class action involves one group of plaintiffs filing a lawsuit on behalf of themselves and the entire group of people in the same situation.  The people who are actually filing the lawsuit are referred to as the “class representatives.”  The larger group of similarly-situated people is called the “class.”  Thus, a “class action lawsuit” really just means a lawsuit that involves a “class.”  Sometimes people think any kind of group lawsuit is a class action, like when people think Fosamax lawsuits are really Fosamax class action lawsuits when, at least in the US, they will likely fall under an MDL effort.

Another, and increasingly common type of lawsuit is called an MDL.  MDL stands for Multi-District Litigation.  Unlike a class action, which involves a single lawsuit filed on behalf of many people, MDL proceedings involve individual lawsuits filed by individual plaintiffs (usually—more about that later).  All of these separate lawsuits are consolidated—or grouped—into a single federal district court proceeding (the MDL).  The MDL judge handles certain parts of the lawsuit, often including discovery disputes, evidentiary rulings, and the like, while the initial “local” court might conduct the actual trial under the rules of that local jurisdiction.  That is why Fosamax lawsuits—which involve individual plaintiffs harmed to different degrees—are likely going to be part of an MDL.

So, both a class action and an MDL proceeding have some similar benefits—consolidating many different plaintiffs under one umbrella to streamline the process.  But where the class action handles everything under one judge in one court, an MDL court may only handle certain aspects of the proceedings.

One reason why some MDL proceedings couldn’t work as a class action is that, while there are many common issues between the various local cases, they are still so different that a class action wouldn’t be much of a streamlined process at all.  For example, in a medical malpractice type of case alleging that a doctor was negligent in their care, the same doctor might have been negligent many times (most doctors, of course, aren’t like this!).  But each and every plaintiff would have a very different set of circumstances—why they went to the doctor to begin with, what treatment the doctor performed, how (if at all) that treatment was negligent.  So if it were a class action, it would still be like individual cases, better suited to an MDL.

From Becoming a Social Worker to Macro Social Work

»Posted by in Family and Self

Many people have a huge desire in the world to make it a better place.  Social workers are perfect examples of those people.  Social work can be some of the most fulfilling work that one can follow.  At the same time it can be one of the most distressful and challenging careers that is available.

Many times this work is extremely hard and frustrating.  Micro social workers deal with clients one on one.  It is easy to get to know the clients personally and get your emotions involved in their life.  When a client is not successful and does not overcome their problem the social worker can be faced with their own sadness and personal insecurities.  Many times the worker will blame themselves when the client is not successful.

There are three different areas or service practices that are involved in a career with social work.  Most career social workers will work in all three of these areas through the life of their career.  They are as follows:

Mezzo Social Work:  This level of practice works with smaller groups or families.  Small groups that need assistance for one reason or another.

Micro Social Work: This level of practice as mentioned earlier will work with individuals.  Individual drug problems or spousal abuse would be examples of this.

Macro Social Work:  This level will deal with larger groups or large organizations.  An example might be working to change Affirmative Action laws or policies that hinder the growth and advancement of a certain population.

The salary of a social worker is not why people get involved in this industry.  The pay is usually low, the work is usually long and distressful and it can be hard on a person.  A social worker has to be dedicated to making the world a better place.  It takes a great sacrifice to be a social worker.  However, most social workers will tell you that it is not so much a sacrifice as it is a privilege.

Is There Such A Thing As A Shoplifting Lawyer?

»Posted by in Family and Self

Yes, there is such a thing as a shoplifting lawyer and if you have been arrested on shoplifting charges, then you need one.

You might be wondering why exactly you need one, or how this type of lawyer differs from any others. You’ll find the answers you need here.

People sometimes make poor decisions. They make decisions out of desperation and out of fear. When someone makes the decision to shoplift these are emotions that are often going through their mind. They may be shoplifting an item that they feel they need, whether that be true or not. If they cannot afford the item they often see no other option than to steal it. They may feel a fear that without the item they won’t fit in amongst friends and since they have no money to buy it, they feel they have to steal it. At the end of the day stealing is a crime whether you do it from a store or from a friend. The victim may choose to press charges and if they do you could be facing legal ramifications.

Without the representation of theft lawyers like a shoplifting lawyer you will face hefty fines and possibly probation for a first offence. Although first time offenders may find their shoplifting crime punished as a misdemeanor, second or third time offenders could be facing felony charges. Felony charges can result in jail time as well as fines and probation. As well as the legal punishment you will also be stuck with the stigma of being a convicted shoplifter. Imagine the embarrassment of having to explain your record to a prospective employer, your parents and friends or someone you are dating. While even the best lawyer cannot guarantee that the charges will be dropped completely, although they will try, they will work towards minimizing your punishment.

A shoplifting lawyer has the same training and qualifications as any other lawyer. The difference is that they specialize in shoplifting cases. They are likely to have represented hundreds of other people accused of the same crime. It is their specialized skill and more importantly their experience that you can use to your advantage. Not only will they know what defense tactics are more likely to be successful, but they may also have knowledge of the judge and opposing lawyers. If they know the judge and other lawyers they will have an understanding of how they work and can play on any weaknesses they know of.

If you have made a poor decision and been arrested for shoplifting, now is the time to make a sensible decision and hire the best legal assistance you can find.
