Understanding the Differences Between MP4, MP5 and MP6 Players

»Posted by in Technology | Comments Off

The people who do not keep up with technology, may believe the mp5 player and mp6 players are the same. Every new number that comes out symbolizes advancements in the technology of these small media players. Numerous companies integrate all the latest features for these media players, but the label of mp plus the number specifies that it also embraces the most recent technology.

The mp3 player is the original. In the beginning it was a simple gadget that one downloaded music to and plugged in earphones. The players coming out now use this as a base. They offer the capability of playing digital audio files in the mp3 format which is a type of audio compression used for playback and transfer of digital audio files. It uses lossy data compressing and this enables the use of the least amount of data that is possible while creating a true sound.

What is an MP4 Player?

The mp4 player is the next evolution in the MPEG-4 technology; allowing users to do what its forerunners did, but also has the capability of housing and streaming audio and digital audio files. The mp4 format also permits the user to maintain a library of photos.

MP5 or MP6 Players

This label seems to have no link with any of the new technical development of the MPEG format. Accepted media asserts it is a label presented by Chinese producers to distinguish and promote their multimedia gadgets. These devices have the same potential as the mp3 technology at the very least, but might differ in features after that. The newer mp5 or mp6 player has a similar technology like the mp4 digital player since it deciphers numerous video formats with no trans-coding.

This returns to the fundamental notion of using the smallest amount of data feasible to offer the optimum version of what is being downloaded, eventually producing less significant file sizes. Make a note that these are not little files; however the technology formulates downloading these otherwise gigantic data streams possible and still deliver outstanding quality.

How the Computer Distinguishes it

In stipulations of how the different labels have an effect on communication with your Mac or PC, there are two recognized formats, which are .mp3 or .mp4, and the user can usually decide which they want to use for recognition. Ordinary file name extensions are .m4a and.m4b for audio files and podcasts. With the .m4a file extension the listener is not permitted to return to the same spot in which they stopped, but the .m4b does allow this convenience.

The file extension used for iPhone ringtones is the .m4r whereas .mp4 is used for any other audio. A file extension used for raw video is .m4v. Some mobile devices use the file extensions.3gp and .3g2 along with the .mp4 designation.

The Outlook

Even though the MP5 label is not a certified file name, numerous models present new features. Displays often present a sharper color image, supplementary flash memory might be obtainable, and MP5′s characteristically have highly developed video and still capture means. The players are provided in high quality and each future evolution leans toward offering more user needs.

MP6 players tend to have extra features such as a stop watch, game apps, FM radio tuners and audio recording. MP6 players have this plus Internet connection. The latest evolution in mp 3 players is an all inclusive occurrence. They join all media sources, including Internet, video and audio downloads. They offer apps for all, from keeping track of workouts to calendars and GPS navigation.

It seems the sky is the limit for the future mp5 player. These days, new styles of players include wristband mp3 players with slide screen controls. These players are made of strong polycarbonate. Sound is transmitted by Bluetooth technology. They can be worn on the wrist like a watch, and will consist of GPS navigation for hikers, walkers and runners.

How To Make Your Slow Computer Fast

»Posted by in Technology | Comments Off

There is nothing worse than working on a slow computer. Now before we get on with what you need to do to make the computer fast, it is indispensable to know what really causes a slow running PC. Well, there are several reasons that lead to slow running computers. Some of the most common ones are:

Too many programs being installed on your computer
Programs running in background and running a lot of programs simultaneously
Downloading files more than  your PC’s memory capacity
Windows registry clogged with unwanted files
Hard drives screaming for defragging
Viruses

Now enhancing your computer’s speed is no rocket science, infact if you keep your focus on some of the aforementioned things that are the main causes for slow computers, you can be well on your way of resolving the issue. First and foremost install antivirus/antispyware, and better still install a firewall as well, especially if you are an avid internet user.

Ensure scanning your PC regularly, avoid downloading files form dubious sites or sites that offer free content like music , games etc. In case you do, ensure running virus scan. Then get on with defragging the hard drive, fragmented hard drive can make the PC slow and for enhancing computer speed, you need to defrag it. Then run a registry cleaner to remove all the unused and unwanted files from your system.

Finally, try not to run a lot of programs simultaneously and also de-clutter the desktop to boost your computer’s speed. And don’t forget about scanning your PC with a windows registry cleaner on regular basis. Probably the best registry cleaner out there today is RegEasy.

I use it myself few times a month and it always helps me to keep my PC clean from any errors, unwanted files and dodgy programs, so I highly recommend it.

What Are Smileys on Facebook Used For?

»Posted by in Technology | Comments Off

Smileys play an important role in Internet-based conversations as well as mobile text messaging.  The term “smiley” may refer to only the dot and curve smiling face or to all emoticons in general. Smileys have been in use in popular culture, advertising and media since the 1850′s, but its use in cyberspace as symbols for emotion began in the 1980′s.

Purpose of Smileys

In face-to-face conversations, we use facial expressions to complement dialogue and show our feelings.  Without these facial expressions, what we say could be misinterpreted. When you tell a joke, drop a hint or make a sarcastic remark, the look on your face and the tone of your voice help make it clear. But on the Internet where people chiefly use text to communicate, facial expression and tone of voice are often absent. Enter smileys.  In place of real human faces, smileys can represent different emotions as needed. It could be a smile, a frown, a grin or a sleepy look. Whether we are talking about smileys on Facebook, or on Yahoo! Messenger or Hotmail,  the purpose is always the same: to convey feeling and mood.

Evolution of Smileys

Emoticons for the Internet began as keyboard character combinations.  When they came into standard use, corresponding graphic images were created to make them more attractive and easier to understand. Over the years, a great many emoticons have developed. There are now enough smileys to express a full spectrum of human emotions and intentions from happy to sad to confused to clownish.  Even animals, objects and heavenly bodies now have emoticons to represent them. Unfortunately, since each program or website tends to develop its own emoticons, you might not find the same images everywhere, or if you do the keyboard shortcuts are different. For example, the Devil emoticon is written as (6) in Windows Live Messenger, as >:) in Yahoo! Messenger and 3:) among the emoticons for Facebook chat.

Meanings of Smileys

Many smileys have universally accepted meanings. For example, the :-( is almost always a frown or a sad expression.  The “crying” emoticons of course, mean unhappiness and being upset.  But just as in real life, we can make similar expressions for a wide variety of emotions.  We “smile” for different reasons in face to face chat, and so in virtual chat.  When you regularly chat with others, you may find you develop your own custom glossary of symbols. A smiley with a tongue can mean disgust, or appetite, or flirtation. It all depends on you and the people you talk to. Just like people, emoticons can be subtle and flexible.

Google Chromebooks for Enterprises

»Posted by in Technology | Comments Off

Google will launch its first commercial Chromebook notebook, through OEM partners Acer and Samsung. The Samsung Chromebook will sell at 429$ and includes a 12.1-inch display, solid state drive(SSD), 8 hours battery life, fully sized keyboard, in-built 3G and Wi-Fi, and a cloud-based storage. The Acer Chromebook will sell at 349$ and will include a 11.6-inch display, 6.5 hours battery life, Wi-Fi and 3G.

Chromebooks’ pricing will make them quite attractive to consumers, but Google has bigger plans: It’s offering Chromebooks as a monthly subscription to business and education customers. Included in the Chromebook hardware, the subscription will have a Web-based management console, automatic updates, warranty, support, and hardware lifecycle upgrades. It’s pricing will be at 28$ per month for businesses users and 20$ per monthly for education customers.

With this subscription plan, Google’s support it provides for it’s applications will be the same support it will use for Enterprise clients.

After about three years, Google will renew customers’ hardware with the latest Chromebook, so if a machine fails, customers will get a replacement, and although the Chromebook is inexpensive, pricing is not the main selling point for Chromebooks.

Chromebooks are not meant to be cheap computers. They are meant to offer great computing experience for schools and businesses.

Most companies can switch about 70 percent of their users to Chromebooks today through a combination of Web applications and virtualization. Google on the other hand, is partnering with Citrix and VMware on getting enterprise applications interoperable with Chromebooks, and Google plans to offer specifics on how this will work in due course.

Chromebook is Google’s shot at defining an end-to-end Web-based computing experience: Always connected, long battery life, quick startup and automatic updates and installations. All Chromebook data will be backed up in the cloud, and will also be encrypted. If Chromebooks aren’t your cup of tea you may also be interested in taking a look at some laptops under 300 dollars which can make excellent workstations.

Active vs Passive 3D TV – The LG LW6500 3D TV As An Example

»Posted by in Technology | Comments Off

If you have decided to buy a 3D TV then you may be overwhelmed at the choice that is available. There is so much jargon surrounding the subject that it is very confusing to the average consumer. The main decision that you will have to make is whether to opt for active or passive 3D TV. The passive 3D TV vs active 3D TV argument is a new one, as up to the recent introduction of the LG LW6500 3D TV, all 3D TVs on the market utilized active 3D.

The obvious question is – what is the difference between these two types of 3D TV. Simply put active 3D TV produces higher resolution images, and passive 3D TV is cheaper. What some people might find confusing is this – as both types of 3D have full HD 1080p displays how can one be a higher resolution than the other?

To explain this as simply as possible – active 3D TVs display separate 1080p images for each of the viewers left and right eyes. The left and right images are shown alternately and the active shutter 3D glasses block the viewer’s left and right eyes so that they don’t see the image intended for the other eye. With passive 3D, the images for the left and right eyes are merged together into one image which is displayed on screen. This single image is then filtered by the passive 3D glasses so that each eye only sees part of the image on display, thus the resolution is reduced due to the filtering process.

Whilst it might appear that passive 3D TV is inferior compared to active 3D TV, it is only in respect of resolution. On the flip side passive 3D TV handles video motion better (the ability to show fast paced on screen action). Where as active 3D TV uses half of the available frame rate for each eye, passive 3D TV uses the entire frame rate for both eyes. The final advantage of passive 3D TV is that they cost less to buy, and the 3D glasses are both cheaper and more comfortable to wear.
