LCD is an abbreviation for liquid crystal display. Thus, LCD TV means a liquid crystal display television LCD TV is called as such because its electronic composition is enhanced by the light modulating properties of a mineral substance called the liquid crystal. This differs from the electronic it replaced, the CRT TV. The CRT TV, on the other hand, uses bulky cathode ray tubes and heavy duty evacuated glass envelopes.

The birth of all these developments started in 1888. Thus far, many electronic manufacturers patented they own visual displays. Then, in 2008, CRT TVs were instantly replaced by the LCD TV. The latter surpassed the demand rate of the former. The innovative approach of quality image seen in LCD TVs is one factor of the shift of consumers from CRT TV to LCD TV. AS described earlier, LCD TV provides thinner, lightweight exterior, high-quality image resolution, wider range in screen sizes from 22 inches to 42 inches, is compact and portable. It also doesn’t cost too much.
The success of high-definition display television screens was marked during the 21st century. This is highlighted when the 26 LCD TV was first introduced and later on utilized by the public. However, late in the 21st century, the LCD TV found its match—the LED TV; said as such only because this particular electronic is a competitor of the LCD TV in image resolution. What then is the difference between an LCD TV and LED TV? The LCD TV uses fluorescent backlight to omit light onto millions of electrically controlled pixels. To generate an image, these pixels must block wavelengths of light that passes through. On the other hand, the LED TV uses light-emitting diodes to produce images. Another difference is, the LCD TV is less expensive. Aside from that, the LCD TV guarantees no image burn-in because its components do not include phosphors in it.
